About the event

CST Laboratoria Ruchowe | kontakt improwizacja

Venue: Ballet Hall (1st floor), Mazovian Institute of Culture, ul. Elektoralna 12

“Gravity” is the guiding theme of the spring cycle of CI laboratories. Tomasz and Olga will share their reflections on the force of gravity – both physical and relational – and will, in a creative dialogue, lead you through a cycle of four meetings.

We will investigate weight, giving and receiving, falling, supporting, resistance and trust. How does gravity organize our body? How does it affect contact? What happens when we stop fighting it?

Jams with live music will be musically led by Ilya Semashkevich.

The laboratories are open - you don’t need dance experience to join us. Together, in a mindful and supportive atmosphere, we seek movement, dance and contact – from where we are.

Program:

  • 17:30–19:00 Improvisation workshop
  • 19:10–21:00 Jam with live music

Dates:

  • March 8
  • April 12
  • May 10
  • June 21

Venue: Mazovian Institute of Culture, ul. Elektoralna 12 (Ballet Hall, 1st floor / dance studio, 2nd floor)

Tickets: From this semester classes are ticketed. If the participation cost is difficult for you to bear – write to us.

Laboratory frame rules:

  • If you are ill, please stay at home.
  • If you have little CI experience, we recommend attending the workshop before the jam.
  • Before coming to the jam, familiarize yourself with Ramy Dżemowania

Creators' bios:

Olga Skrzypek – a multidisciplinary artist and facilitator connected to contact improvisation practice for 9 years. She studied sculpture and drawing at the Academy of Fine Arts, created music for improvisation jams and actively co-creates the improvised dance scene. She leads workshops, facilitates jams and partnering laboratories focused on mindfulness, movement dialogue and work with weight. Member of the Oddaj Ciężar collective, graduate of the experimental choreography course at Centrum w Ruchu.

Tomasz Domański – dancer, performer and educator. He teaches contact improvisation and partnering, facilitates jams and leads workshops for adults and youth. For 6 years he co-created the performative collective Szur-Sure, performing in stage and site-specific actions, and was also a member of the partnering group Oddaj Ciężar led by Karolina Kroczak. He is interested in exploring movement possibilities through relationship, intention, body awareness and quality of attention, and in duet work – communication and building deep trust in one’s own body.

Ilya Semashkevich – composer, performer and creator of electronic music, combining drone, ambient and improvisation in his practice. During jams he creates live compositions and sound structures that develop alongside the dancers' movement, co-creating a space of listening, dialogue and shared presence.
