We invite you to our next original, 3-month series of movement classes in contact improvisation (10 sessions, 2 hours each). We will explore new possibilities of our bodies through various strengthening exercises, floorwork techniques, and mindful work with a partner/partners. Our goal is to expand awareness of safe movement in a space open to creative solutions and play, so that everyone feels comfortable and safe in the jam environment. In this edition, we will cover topics such as: - Small dance – discovering subtle impulses and sources of movement - Solo – agility, body awareness, and movement improvisation - Duo and trio – joint exploration of body possibilities in contact: tuning, mindfulness, and weight exchange - Technique – roll, push, pull, slide, weight transfer, momentum, and partnering - Jam culture – how to move consciously and creatively in the jam space We will explore all this in an atmosphere of openness, creativity, play, asking questions, and seeking answers through our own experiences. We are inspired by somatic methods of working with the body, contemporary dance, floorwork, partnering, yoga, and contact improvisation techniques. A significant inspiration for our classes is the methodology of Karolina Kroczak (Oddaj Ciężar) and Katja Mustonen.
