Playful Monday 4th Edition - Autumn contact improvisation course for beginners plus We invite you to our next original, 3-month movement cycle in contact improvisation (10 meetings, 2 hours each). We will explore new possibilities of our bodies through various strengthening exercises, floorwork techniques, and mindful work with a partner or partners. Our goal is to expand awareness of safe movement, in a space open to creative solutions and play, so that everyone feels comfortable and safe in the jam environment. In this edition, we will cover topics such as: - Small dance – discovering subtle impulses and sources of movement - Solo – agility, body awareness, and movement improvisation - Duo and trio – jointly exploring the possibilities of the body in contact: tuning, mindfulness, and weight exchange - Technique – roll, push, pull, slide, weight transfer, momentum, and partnering - Jam culture – how to move consciously and creatively in the jam space We will explore all this in an atmosphere of openness, creativity, play, asking questions, and seeking answers through our own experiences. We are inspired by somatic methods of working with the body, contemporary dance, floorwork, partnering, yoga, and contact improvisation techniques. A major inspiration for our classes is the methodology of Karolina Kroczak (Oddaj Ciężar) and Katja Mustonen. Graduate of Somatics in Dance and Therapy at the Academy of Music in Łódź. She has been dancing for over 16 years, developing in techniques such as contact improvisation, jazz techniques, contemporary dance, Axis Syllabus®, Body-Mind Centering®, Feldenkrais Method®, and Laban Bartenieff Movement System®, participating in numerous classes, workshops, festivals, and dance programs. Currently, she is part of the partnering performance group Oddaj Ciężar led by Karolina Kroczak and regularly trains contact improvisation under Sebastian Flegel. She facilitates CI jams and leads teaching practice, constantly developing by attending numerous workshops with teachers from Poland and abroad. She balances between a sense of freedom, play, and unlimited possibilities, and awareness of what, how, and why things are done in dance. She discovers the healing power of movement and the spiritual significance of the connections between body and mind. She asks more and more questions, and increasingly says I DON'T KNOW. Kamila Zięba – dancer, performer, yogini. Enthusiast of many movement disciplines, currently closest to her are contact improvisation, partnering, and movement medicine practice. Her medical education and study of human anatomy and physiology have a significant impact on her dance and movement development and teaching style. She gained dance experience at the Warsaw Dance Department, Opus Ballet school in Florence, at festivals and workshops in Poland and abroad, including Spain, Portugal, and the Netherlands. For 4 years, she has been part of the partnering performance group Oddaj Ciężar led by Karolina Kroczak. In 2019, she completed the Vinyasa Yoga 200h Teacher Training course in Warsaw, which she now teaches. A big fan of spirals, pilates balls, travel, nature, and dolphins.
