THREE-MONTH COURSE IN MOVEMENT COMPOSITION, CONTEMPORARY DANCE AND THERAPEUTIC DANCE with Alicja Miszczor in Krakow 🗓️ 09.01.2026 – 25.03.2016 Winter can be a demanding time for both body and mind. This course is an air cushion that will soften, oxygenate, and brighten this challenging period, easing your landing into spring. There’s a good chance that by listening to your body and following its needs, this time will not only be much gentler for you, but also rich in nourishing moments. Note: New features in the course program: - Anna Halprin Method - Dance with sticks Before reading the description, we invite you to check out: https://www.facebook.com/reel/564807396696002 https://www.facebook.com/reel/1281392290185575 Video testimonials from course participants: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1Cu8w5cfSY/ https://www.facebook.com/interartdance/videos/1113373469562835 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYgYgF1OF3g And interviews with the course leader: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HegMuCx_SSc (1) How movement, senses, and visual arts combine into play? - YouTube Written reviews from participants: https://www.facebook.com/interartdance/reviews And the instructor in action: https://www.facebook.com/interartdance/videos/437247151864414 DETAILED COURSE INFORMATION: MAIN INFO (purpose and methods): This course is a land of nourishing creativity and a celebration of expression, but also a mindful journey for the mind, body, and spirit. A journey in which you not only discover and deepen your dance/motor skills, but also receive support and have the opportunity to rediscover your potential (not only creative). All this through play, authentic expression, deep self-experience through mind-body, as well as reflection and pause. The course also offers the chance to gain new perspectives on yourself, the world, and your body, as well as powerful imagination training, out-of-the-box thinking, getting out of your head and returning to your whole feeling body, refreshing your relationship with yourself and the world, and a foundation for regaining a sense of meaning (the one that lives beyond the world of words and things). Above all, you will receive tools from the fields of broadly understood contemporary dance (mainly from the field of dance improvisation), as well as therapeutic dance, physical theatre, elements of movement composition. You will also get to know the method of Dr. Detlef Kappert (improvisation and body symbolism), elements of Anna Halprin’s method, and the instructor’s own Interart Dance method (including Dancing Brushes, Dancing Pillows, Puzzle Technique). Elements of Yoga, Qi Gong, and relaxation techniques will also be present. In this course, dance intertwines with other art forms, and movement expression techniques with mindfulness training. The program is unique, rich, and very eclectic. The course is also characterized by attention to participants’ needs. To make you feel safe, know that the course is led by a person with twenty years of experience working with the body and a love for what she does. Grounding in specific methods provides a balanced and conscious approach to both dance and personal development. She does not promise you eternal happiness 24 hours a day or a recipe for life, but rather a kind of training in surfing the waves of life. Additional strong points of the course are: stationary mode, regularity (which gives you a real chance to absorb the proposed topics and move from point A to point B), and competitive price considering the program offered. The course takes place in Krakow, but you have the option to attend only Friday classes thanks to a flexible schedule. COURSE AS A CLOSED WHOLE: The course is a process (a cycle of workshops) and takes place in a CLOSED FORM, i.e., in a fixed group. It is not possible to participate in single workshops. The course level is open, and the course is designed so that both experienced and beginner participants can benefit. If you are curious about the topics covered, you can ask about them by email or during a phone call. Participants’ comments about the course: - "I discovered abilities I had no idea about" - "A time of change and transformation" - "Reduction of pain-related ailments" - "An amazing experience giving a new perspective on yourself, your body, other people, and relationships with them and with yourself" - "Stepping out of the comfort zone and well-trodden paths" - "Development of movement language" - "A space for mindfulness, presence in the body, joy, and community" - "Joy, expressing emotions, interactions, experimenting, breath, touch, voice, energy (...), being natural and alive." - "Opening body and mind, grounding in oneself, wonderful people, shedding the burden of stress (...) sometimes fun, sometimes deep experiences." - "A space where you can express everything that is deeply hidden" - "Abundance, comfort, and surprise" - "I felt myself and others again after experiencing a huge loss in life." - "The magic of professionalism, the professionalism of magic." - "One of the best improvisation instructors." IN THE COURSE YOU CAN ALSO EXPERIENCE: - strengthening a positive relationship with yourself (greater acceptance of yourself and the world) - awakening dormant instincts and vitality, and the creativity behind them - play, play, play - enriching the language of communication with yourself and others - increasing creativity - a sense of agency in some areas of your life, but also a sense of letting go in others - spontaneity/courage - feeling the body and reading its signals - broadening physical and mental horizons and ranges - breaking out of established patterns - befriending the senses and the phenomenon of pleasure - realizing your own potential (not only creative) - building skills to act considering your psycho-physical state (acceptance) - being yourself as you are (authenticity) - inspiration from a poetic-philosophical approach to phenomena in the body and the world - the present moment - meeting new people with similar interests and discovering yourself anew - peace On the combination of CONTEMPORARY DANCE and THERAPEUTIC DANCE: The intertwining of therapeutic dance and contemporary dance (here: dance improvisation), therapeutic dance, and other fields in this course is key and intentional, as it trains the dancer not only in experiencing and releasing content stored in the body, but also in body awareness, motor agility, and using specific forms in movement. This approach allows the psyche to keep up with the body and facilitates self-expression, ensuring we don’t get stuck at the level of feeling, associations, or imagination, and that physicality supports the mental space and allows for deeper entry into the process. 3 PILLARS OF THIS COURSE: DANCE IMPROVISATION This is a nourishing celebration of your expression through movement/dance. It’s your unique way of expressing yourself in the language of movement. It’s movement where you are the creator, constantly creating new worlds and yourself anew within them. At the same time, this creation is movement that arises from letting go of control, judgment, grounding in the present moment, and allowing what is. It’s honest and true communication with yourself and the world (because the body, unlike words, doesn’t lie). It’s a self free from layers, masks, and blocks we wear every day. It’s feeling the essence of your being and coexisting in a pure, unwritten form. THERAPEUTIC DANCE: This is a deeper meeting with yourself. It’s noticing, getting to know, and taming the unknown within, and the second pillar of therapeutic dance, transformation. Change happens by dancing with what is, by accepting what is. And here comes the third pillar, authentic expression of all your parts (the light and the dark ones). What is noticed, allowed, and expressed changes form and often becomes an ally. PHYSICAL THEATRE: This is the meeting of theatre and the feeling body in movement. It’s shapes, gestures, body symbolism. It’s also a message/story in a language understood by the whole world without uttering a single word. The language of the body is also the language of human emotions and feelings. Our hands, forming gestures, are an extension of the heart, but the whole body almost constantly forms gesture-shapes in response to experienced reality, like a sensitive organic instrument. Gesture, shape, intention, but also tension, weight, size, tempo... instead of words. Although words do appear in physical theatre. But here, the body comes first. CONTRAINDICATIONS: - psychotic states - psychotropic therapy (not contraindicated, but please consult a doctor) - advanced pregnancy and very early postpartum period - various types of inflammation and acute conditions - epilepsy - glaucoma - current, untreated injuries Situations requiring caution: - high sensitivity to strong stimuli, e.g., loud sounds - use of pharmaceuticals - generally very weak physical condition - long-term untreated depression - long-term exhaustion or weakness COURSE PARTICIPANTS: Both people with experience in the course topics and complete beginners (and those with an appetite for this course). Also those whom dance calls, but maybe haven’t allowed themselves to follow this need before. What you do daily doesn’t matter for your participation. Participants are usually aged 20 to 70. Age doesn’t matter (unless your body is very stiff). Super fitness is not required. Small movement is also beautiful. Both newcomers and amateurs are more than welcome. If anything is unclear, all questions are welcome. The course is for those who can attend regularly (except for pre-planned trips). Instructor: Alicja Miszczor: Born in 1982. Lives in Krakow.
