Recently, there have been fewer opportunities in Warsaw to learn contact improvisation from recognized teachers from abroad. Without a doubt, the local community has accumulated a lot of knowledge and skills, but we suppose that a fresh perspective will always be valuable. Therefore, we announce a series of workshops with three outstanding experts in the field. We have also developed a whole pyramid of discounts, worthy of fledgling loyalty programs. Don't worry if you don't understand any of it, we don't understand it either! (In such a situation, it's best to write and ask) ✨ January 17-18, 2026 andrew wass: somatics of space Ensemble Thinking (ET) is a system of collaborative group performance practices that refine the individual’s ability to perceive, initiate, and support collective action. Contact Improvisation is the simultaneous exploration, experimentation, and execution of the location, duration, and operation of surface(s) between two or more bodies. ET and CI can be seen as two poles of a spectrum, wherein lies much potential. Starting with technical solo material, this workshop will oscillate between ET and CI scores. One goal of this workshop is to uncover the ensemble within the solo and the duet. Another goal is to investigate how the duet and the solo can give focus to the ensemble. Through this oscillation, we will blur the boundaries of composition, somatics, performance, and observation. Materials will alternate between solo, duo, trio and group-scores. We use touch to orient and negotiate relations within time, space and bodies to cultivate the dynamics of the present. Different hands-on exercises will play an important role in the softening and preparing the body as we dance with others. We play with scores that ask for multitasking/-focus to move beyond habitual responses. Physical dialogues through touch, weight and matters of support will help us to alter spatial orientation and duration of each moment. Exploring always more than one invites us to discover and deepen strategies for the unknown and engage with spontaneous dancing together with others. On the level of movement technique as well as improvisation and encounter, new fields are to be discovered and the scope of play expanded. We explore the threshold between surrender and control, play with balance and experience how incredibly stimulating it can be when we are moved by gravity and go into navigation mode at the same time. Deep listening and the intelligent handling of our own weight results in an extremely precise quality of movement, which in turn allows us to flow with pleasure in lifts, to glide down from other people's shoulders or pelvis without fear, or simply to enjoy the balance point at an airy height - without knowing when, where and how the shared movement will continue.
