The third week of the large dance marathon Rave to the Grave, broadcast live around the clock, begins. There were a hundred at the start; today there are only eight left. They compete for a cash prize as well as recognition and acclaim. The rules are simple: whoever stops even for a moment must leave the program; whoever stays on the floor the longest will win a prize of 100 thousand dollars and may change their life.

"They Shoot Horses, Don't They?" is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Horace McCoy. It transposes the story of the Great Depression in the United States into today's reality of late capitalism, the age of social media, widespread pharmacology and reality shows. It observes contemporary young people coming of age, facing an unfriendly and dangerously accelerating reality of a fatigued society. It asks how a young person today manages under the extreme conditions of 24/7 productivity and what price they must pay to survive it. Is it really, as Byung-Chul Han wrote, that today we are "too dead to live and too alive to die"?

The performance uses intense strobe lighting, smoke and loud music. It also contains profanity and themes of suicide, sexual violence and substance addiction.
