PHILOSOPHICAL MEETINGS is a series of monthly gatherings, each consisting of a film screening from the Gutek Film repertoire and a discussion with the audience on topics directly inspired by the film. The discussions are led by the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Warsaw.
We encourage you to participate in the meetings if:
- you are looking for answers to important questions about your life,
- you are interested in fundamental issues that many people do not notice at all,
- you want to practice creative thinking, argumentation, and clearly communicating your thoughts,
- you value versatile thinking, which makes it easier to master new skills, adapt to changes, and overcome the fear of what is new,
- you wish to deepen your ability to accurately analyze reality and think independently, which protects against manipulation,
- you believe that an open mind and curiosity about the world give life flavor and depth.
Philosophy will teach you all of this.
The PHILOSOPHICAL MEETINGS are sponsored by the magazine Filozofuj.
About the film:
11 awards at the Gdynia festival, an Oscar® nomination, the Golden Frog at the EnergaCamerimage festival, two European Film Awards – these are just the most important accolades for the loudest Polish co-production of this year. 'The Girl with the Needle' by Magnus von Horn is a masterfully constructed psychological thriller that delves into the darkest corners of the human soul.
It is a dark fairy tale for adults, where a poor girl meets a noble faceless monster, a cowardly prince on a white horse, and a witch who feeds children milk and sweets. The only difference is that this story really happened.
