ABOUT THE BOOK "NADKOBIETA"

The backstage of intelligence services' fight over a billion-dollar contract in Poland's energy sector. Love, loyalty and power in a world where everything has a price. The literary debut of Adam Gawłowski – an author who in an extremely cinematic way combines the worlds of business, politics and intelligence services with emotions drawn from classic thrillers.

"Nadkobieta" is a story about the backstage battle between Russian and American intelligence for influence on the Polish energy market – a world where decisions are made in the privacy of luxury apartments, and billion-dollar contracts become tools of geopolitical games. The action takes place in 2014–2015, and the author takes the reader on a journey through the world's most striking locations:

  • Warsaw
  • Sopot
  • Moscow
  • Chicago
  • Milan
  • Split
  • Vienna
  • Johannesburg
  • Monaco

In the background – wine, elegant restaurants, five-star hotels and private jets. In the foreground – people who, behind the facade of success, hide fear, loneliness and moral compromises.

The main character of the novel is Adam – a forty-five-year-old former basketball player, now an effective salesman in a large energy company. Confident, clever and aware of his charm, he succeeds by playing according to the unwritten rules of the business world. From a cynical observer of reality he becomes someone else when he meets Sandra – a young, sensual blonde with whom he has a passionate affair. When the passion gets out of control and business and loyalties begin to mix, the line between truth and fabrication disappears.

Figures appear in the background who could easily stand next to characters from John le Carré or Robert Harris – Sasza, a ruthless Russian officer of an oligarch from Moscow; Andrzej, an ABW officer acting on behalf of the Americans; the General, a former KGB officer who now turns billions; and politicians and CEOs for whom Poland is just one field in an international game.

"Nadkobieta" is not only a story about passion and betrayal but also about the cynicism of power, mechanisms of corruption and a world where success requires crossing moral boundaries.

A penetrating depiction of the energy sector environment, knowledge of business language and realities.

The novel will be published in three formats:

  • printed
  • e-book
  • audiobook (Audioteka). The audio version will be voiced by Leszek Lichota
