About the event

BOOK LAUNCH: Zośka and Rudy. On Love, Friendship and Poland

We invite you to the book launch of Kornelia Sobczak’s “Zośka and Rudy. On Love, Friendship and Poland,” devoted to a critical analysis of the reading we all know (yet few consider its hidden meanings) “Stones for the Rampart.” 📅 March 6 (Friday), 6:00 PM. 📍 House of Meetings with History, Karowa 20. 🎟️ Admission: free

The meeting will be led by Łukasz Mieszkowski — a historian specializing in social, medical and military history of Poland in the first half of the 20th century, deputy director of the Pilecki Institute for history in the public sphere.

Sobczak attempts a serious confrontation with Aleksander Kamiński’s legendary work and reveals its role in creating the myth surrounding the heroes of the national reader. She boldly addresses the most controversial threads related to “Stones for the Rampart” — suspicions of a homoerotic relationship between Zośka and Rudy and Bytnar’s affiliation with the far-right ONR organization. She also analyses how the beautiful ideas from this reading collide with nationalism, militarism and the cult of masculinity.

You can buy the book on the Krytyka Polityczna website. During the meeting it will be possible to buy and have the book signed.
