    About the event

The Roundest Scripts: Uncial, Roundhand, and Italic The soothing rhythm of a nib slowly drawn, following the oval. We have chosen a group of scripts with an incredible history. They are united by the same writing tool: goose quill and broad nib, legibility, and roundness. What will the classes look like? We take a comprehensive approach! From the very first lines, where we will test the tools, to full compositions of transcribed text. Ahead of us are 10 afternoon meetings, over 20 creative hours. We start from the very basics, gradually moving on to more difficult forms. We will guide you step by step, no worries! We plan to learn three script styles. At the end of each block, we will create a clean final work, which will summarize the skills acquired and become a beautiful piece to frame. We will start with uncial, which is the perfect entry into the world of calligraphy. Based on it, we will learn about the anatomy of letters and the principles of alphabet construction. For those who have already tried their hand at uncial, we have prepared Carolingian uncial. Next, we will discuss roundhand, which was still taught in French schools. We will create our own monogram! Finally, we will tackle italic – pure Italian beauty. Entering the world of the Renaissance, we will attempt to compete with print using the technique developed by Gutenberg. We know that life is unpredictable, so we always try to devote extra time for you to catch up on any missed classes. Please remember that Fridays are also open for you, so you can come and finish your works then. 🗓️ WHEN? - 10 meetings on Thursday afternoons - 18:00-20:00 - October: 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 - November: 6, 13, 20, 27 - December: 4, 11, 18 FOR WHOM? - for beginners looking for a new passion or favorite style - besides substantive value, the workshops are also for those tired of being only at home and work - for those seeking a moment of respite and relaxation in an atmospheric studio, in the company of people sharing the same passion - for those who want to enter the world of handicrafts or art but lack the courage - for those who already have calligraphy experience but want to expand their skills with a new script style We invite everyone over 16 years old. 🖊️ WHAT DO YOU NEED? You don't need any materials! Everything is available in our studio. We make sure to surround you with the highest quality materials so you won't lack anything. Nothing will stop our creativity! We have prepared a starter kit for you, which will immediately allow you to continue calligraphy at home: - 2-in-1 oblique and straight pen holder - nib with reservoir - ink - a set of original templates, guidelines, and exercises prepared on high-quality paper, including an extensive set of exercises to do at home WHO WILL LEAD THE CLASSES? Wojciech Malinowski Wojtek is a mathematics graduate from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. He signed up for his first calligraphy course in 2019, starting with Gothic script. That one meeting with calligraphy was enough to awaken a great passion in him. Since then, he has been constantly developing his skills, training under the guidance of many calligraphers. Letters have become an important part of his life. It may be surprising that a mathematician dealing with data analysis on a daily basis practices art. It is precisely his mathematical education that allows him to have an analytical view and a deep understanding of the geometry of letters. Creativity: @callimetria 📝 Sign up via the website
