Write a story, develop a novel, play with form, catch ideas for a plot. The group and the instructor will support you in creating stories, as well as in creative shallows and crises. You will experience many literary exercises and be inspired by contemporary prose, transforming your text under the influence of classes, group feedback, and your own discoveries. We will create story frameworks and run them through various storytelling styles. We will learn what narrative elements a text can consist of. - Session 2: Body and Movement We will create characters that have bodies and live. Both human and non-human protagonists. We will explore the possibilities of depicting movement in prose. We will workshop specific, realistic descriptions of movement, actions, and interactions between characters. - Session 3: Plot We will develop ideas for plots, outlining threads, thinking about action and the lack of action. We will use story frameworks and share inspirations within the group, supporting each other in creating stories. - Session 4: Space and Time We will examine how space influences characters, their feelings, movements, and actions, and how it can exist on its own. We will explore the possibilities of time: slowing down, speeding up, jumping, stopping. - Session 5: Dialogues and Silences We will write conversations, dialogues, chit-chat, lengthy monologues, embedding them in interactions between characters, movement, and narratives. - Session 6: Psychology of Characters and Their Relationships Inspired by psychoanalysis, we will deepen our understanding of our characters, their motivations, struggles, and true desires. We will examine the dynamics and depth of relationships between characters. - Session 7: Narratives 2 We will process our stories, equipping them with additional layers and dimensions: sensory, technical, meaningful. INSTRUCTOR: Tomek Gromadka is a writing pedagogue, animator, playwright, poet, prose writer, and performer. Creator of a group writing method based on inspirations, exercises, and form. His texts have been published in "Dialog," "Wakat," "Dwutygodnik," "Dziennik Opinii," "Nowy obywatel," "Wizje," "Tlen literacki." Winner of the Biuro Literackie competition "Połów. Poetic Debuts 2021" and "First Book in Verse." His novel will be published this year. He co-created the performances "Flupy ewolucjy" and "Robo i Osobo" directed by Agata Dyczko, wrote scripts for performances by the Strefa WolnoSłowa Foundation, including "Język do oc(a)lenia," "Narysowałam więcej niż tu widać," and "Bogowie" directed by Alicja Borkowska, which premiered at the Zygmunt Hübner Powszechny Theater. He collaborated with Italian director Pietro Floridia as part of a year-long international theater project "The City Ghettos of Today." With the Performative Group Chłopaki, he created the performances "We Wanted to Talk About Masculinity, and We Became Friends" and "Now You Know How I Feel." With the Association of Theater Educators - "Workshop of Sources of Hope." He conducts writing classes online, at the Powszechny Theater in Warsaw, at the Ochota Cultural Center, and other institutions.
