The biggest enemy of creative thinking is the fear of judgment. How can we be creative if we are afraid that something will turn out “ugly”? That is why in the workshops we will not worry whether something is pretty or well drawn. We will not learn “correct” drawing. We will allow ourselves to create “ugly” work — focused on enjoying the process of making art rather than the final result. We will look for elements of nature in the museum’s collections and consider how they would look in their natural environment — not always grand, studied, or “like from a painting”. We will practise seeing beauty in what is modest, unexpected, and “ugly”.
