We invite all children to family workshops — art classes during which we will visit museum galleries together and create artworks inspired by pieces from the collection. In an atmosphere of creative freedom we will learn fascinating stories behind works of art and the biographies of selected female and male artists. Dates: January 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, 30 (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) — 12:00 Duration: approx. 80 minutes Meeting point: MNW Main Building – Main Hall For whom: children aged 5–12 and their guardians Participation rules: child admission ticket PLN 25, guardian admission ticket PLN 25; available at the ticket office and online from Tuesday two weeks before the event. Program (selected dates): 21 and 28 January — Wandering Landscapes / Rita Twardziak Each participant will be able to create a landscape — a view of a place they like, would like to visit or would like to live in. Inspiration will come from paintings encountered during the museum walk. We will learn how artists created landscapes by experimenting with colour, light and composition. Tickets available from January 13 and 20. 22 and 29 January — Bird Stories Hidden in Paintings / Maja Żurawska We will set off on a joint museum expedition, tracking birds hidden in works of art. We will consider what relationships connect them with people and examine how artists depicted their shapes, textures and colours. Tickets available from January 13 and 20. 23 and 30 January — Ecology Through the Ages / Marta Drozd We will check what materials artists used to prepare paints, what surfaces they painted on and what raw materials they used for sculptures. We will compare older practices with actions of contemporary artists who use recycled materials and address environmental protection topics. Tickets available from January 13 and 20.
