Relaxing the Back - somatics workshop with Paweł Wójtowicz in Warsaw



I invite you to a 2-day somatics workshop in Warsaw with Feldenkrais lessons, where we will increase our mobility and independently care for our own health and well-being. Most lessons will focus on relieving the back. Classes take place in a warm and cozy room in the city center.



HOW?
These are movement classes in which I describe and demonstrate positions and movements. Each participant performs the movement only as much as is easy for them, without physical effort or pain, within their own capabilities and comfort. Participants look for the easiest and simplest way themselves without comparing to others or imitating. I suggest what to pay attention to and offer variations to try. Between movements there are breaks to rest and process the recent experiences.



Each lesson, through a sequence of positions and movements, leads to the improvement of a specific skill (e.g. standing up, reaching, turning, walking), which can be felt during and immediately after the class. Results include a larger range of free movement, better posture, easier movement and breathing.



At the workshop we will do about eight such lessons; there will be breaks between them, and after breaks time for comments, questions and answers. We work as a group but draw on the individual experiences of participants. Each lesson can later be repeated at home — the workshop is an introduction to independent, regular practice.

Sunday



  • Engaging the abdomen & relaxing the back part 2
  • Rotation on the cheek

  • Getting up

FOR WHOM:
Somatics is a method for anyone who wants to move better, develop or recover, regardless of age or fitness. Classes are taught without imitation and comparison to others; everyone performs movements independently, at their own pace, gently and with attention to their sensations. Classes are also recommended for athletes, yogis, actors, dancers, physiotherapists and everyone who works with the body.



INSTRUCTOR – Paweł Wójtowicz



  • I have practiced somatics for 16 years.
  • Certified Feldenkrais Method teacher (completed a 4-year training in England in 2014).
  • For 12 years I have run workshops across Poland, over 40 per year.
  • I teach somatics students at the Academy of Music in Łódź.
  • I work with children with cerebral palsy; I have traveled, among others, to Ukraine and Kazakhstan.
  • Author of the book Notatki z podłogi.

Bring comfortable clothing; we practice without shoes. Mats and blankets are available on site.
