The series includes 11 one-day workshops dedicated to in-depth somatic bodywork using the Body-Mind Centering® approach. Each module serves as both an introduction and a continuation of somatic practice. You may attend selected modules, but participation in the entire series is recommended to fully experience the process.
During the meetings you will learn the basic principles, language and practices of BMC® that you can use in daily life, creative work and professional practice.
Body-Mind Centering® (BMC®; more) is an approach to working with body and movement that combines anatomical, physiological and developmental knowledge with our own direct bodily experience. Through movement, touch, somatic embodiment practices and attention to the body — physical, emotional, mental and energetic — we will examine how developmental processes, bodily systems and cycles interact, influencing our everyday presence and functioning.
We will look at different body systems and structures — from the senses and bones, through fluids, fascia and connective tissues to the nervous and endocrine systems — discovering how each shapes our movement, emotions, perception and way of being in the world. We will work on how individual systems and the processes within them can support resilience, regulation, regeneration and integration to strengthen us in creative, relational, professional and personal activities.
Dance, contact improvisation, authentic movement and meditation will be integrating practices — connecting acquired knowledge with creative expression.
Somatization refers to real, sensory bodily feeling. Directing attention to what is anatomically examined (scientifically or experientially) is one way to build a bridge to real bodily experience. Anatomy and expanding the imagination of how our body is constructed is one path to building a relationship with your own body.
In the BMC® approach we learn from the perspective of our own bodily experience — for example, how I experience the movement of fluids, breath, or how the nervous system responds to touch. This is a path to deepening the relationship with the body and discovering its potentials, focused on process rather than on achieving a goal.
Each module is a 1-day workshop (10:00–13:30 and 15:30–18:30)
Additionally:
- 2 group follow-up meetings live/online after the series
- 1 or 2 one-hour complimentary individual sessions (depending on group size) for those registering for the full series
