The “Space of Jazz” series in 2026 opens with a concert by Ślina feat. Maniucha Bikont & Katarzyna Kapela. It will be a meeting of improvisation, trance and song. Wrocław’s Ślina will immerse listeners in dense, hypnotic forms balancing between free jazz, psychedelia and experimentation, where sound pulses, hisses and constantly transforms. Joining that world are special guests: Maniucha Bikont – a vocalist and performer moving between tradition, improvisation and original song, and Katarzyna Kapela, known for bold vocal explorations and intercultural musical projects. Their joint improvisations promise an evening full of tension, wildness and unexpected encounters – an experience where trance and voice intertwine into one intense sonic story.
Ślina
Sticky and endless instrumental improvisations, trance exhalations of psychedelic rock pulsation, free-jazz racket swallowing ambient silence shredded by post-rock and post-punk moisture of tension in countless sound textures. This is the musical world of the Wrocław quartet Ślina, which concentrates the achievements of experimental and improvised music from recent decades. The members of the group like to soak in echoes of 60s and 70s free jazz, in the vein of Miles Davis’ “Bitches Brew”, while also turning toward German krautrock like Can, Amon Düül II or Faust, staying close to contemporary electronics threaded with drones, crackles, hiss and feedback. They are also familiar with ethnic music, Far Eastern and Indian traditions. They presented all this with the release of their first album “36:28”, which was named debut of the year 2019 by Polish Jazz portal. Subsequent releases “42'00” (2021) and “Ślina Trzaska” (2022) continue the band’s eclectic explorations and remain an endless labyrinth of experimental experiences. They press trance to the breaking point! Feel it and be a part of it!
