Join us for a walk through the absurdities of the Polish People's Republic (PRL). During the walk, we will visit places in Warsaw most associated with Poland's former political system and learn about their history. We'll talk about how strange this system was and how many absurdities it contained. There will also be a generous dose of PRL humor. Here are some of the things you'll learn during this walk: - What was the hitchhiker's booklet used for? - Why did children write letters to the Palace of Culture and Science? - How did ships carrying citrus fruits become a national treasure? - What were foreign currency hunting trips? - Where were the speakers that amplified applause located? - What were the funniest mishaps during May Day parades? - Why did Stefan Kisielewski call censors "mice"? - What were wagon vacations? - What were the humorous propaganda slogans? - Why were cookbooks subject to censorship? - What was the purpose of the decorative men's tie? - What did the Potato Protection Department do? - And much more... 📅 Date of the walk: Sunday, October 5, 2025, at 12:00 PM. 💰 Price: Pay what you wish (payment at the end of the walk). 📍 Meeting point: In front of the Palace of Culture and Science (Plac Defilad 1) at the Adam Mickiewicz monument, located to the left of the main entrance to PKiN.
