🎵 Dharma. The nationwide composition competition named after Marcin Błażewicz is organized cyclically. The theme of each edition of the competition is a chamber piece for percussion and other instruments, which change in subsequent editions. The use of percussion, a constant element of each edition of the competition, is a kind of tribute and recognition that the organizers wish to pay to its patron – Prof. Marcin Błażewicz. Percussion was the composer's favorite medium of musical expression, and the works created with its involvement have become part of the canon of 20th-century music. 𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐋 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐕𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒 - Only original works, previously unpublished, unperformed, and not awarded in other competitions, may be submitted to the competition. - The competition is open to Polish composers (holding Polish citizenship or a Pole's Card) who have not exceeded the age of 30 on the closing date of the competition. 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐌𝐄 - The subject of the competition is a piece for percussion (multi-percussion), mezzo-soprano, and piano with a duration of up to 12 minutes. - List of percussion instruments that can be used in the piece: gran cassa, 5 tom-toms, 2 congas, 2 bongos, 3 hanging cymbals, 3 Chinese gongs, 3 Javanese gongs, 3 glissando gongs, 5 temple blocks, 2 symphonic timpani of choice, 3 Tibetan bowls, tubi di bambu (wood chimes), metal chimes. - Piano preparation is allowed in the piece. - The use of electronic means is not allowed in the piece. Works that do not comply with the competition regulations will not be considered. 𝐒𝐔𝐁𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐎𝐅 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐒 📅 Scores marked with a motto must be sent by email by September 30, 2025 (by 11:59 PM) to the address: [email protected]. The file name should include the motto and the title of the piece. The email subject should state: Dharma. Nationwide composition competition named after Marcin Błażewicz 2025. The score must not contain elements that allow the identification of the author. In a separate file named the same as the motto, information (marked with the same motto as the score) should be included, containing the composer's name, surname, date of birth, address, email, and phone number, as well as a brief biography. Both attached files should be in PDF format. If submitting more than one composition, each must be marked with a separate motto and submitted separately.
