During the concert, songs will be performed in Polish, French, and Esperanto, in contemporary arrangements by the renowned Polish jazz vocalist Agnieszka Wilczyńska. For the first time in history, selected songs by Polish female composers and creators, whose names and biographies are either completely unknown or barely known, will be presented. For some creators (such as Jadwiga Abłamowicz, Hanna Karwowska, or Jadwiga Eminowicz-Burzyńska), the only trace left is a single sheet music publication by the famous Gebethner & Wolff, containing a collection of 3 or 4 songs. Other creators, like Ilza Sternicka-Niekrasz or Zofia Ossendowska, were well-known instrumentalists, social activists, and even composers in the early decades of the 20th century, but are now forgotten, with one exception – Anna Maria Klechniowska, who has been pigeonholed as a pedagogue, creator of children's miniatures, and author of a famous piano music school. In contrast to the 7 songs by composers from the early 20th century, there will be 7 contemporary "liberated" songs, created between 2011 and 2025, by composer and music theorist Aleksandra Bilińska, author of a doctoral dissertation on women's musical creativity in the 20th and 21st centuries. These songs explore the theme of femininity and its contemporary condition, serving as a kind of mirror to the 7 miniatures created exactly 100 years earlier. Then and now, women creators often find themselves at a crossroads between nature and civilization, between so-called "female duties" and the calling to create artistic and experimental contemporary music.
