First Steps in Improv – an introductory improvisation course

“First Steps in Improv” is a course for adults who want to try theatrical improvisation in a calm, workshop-style setting.

You don't need stage experience or a “talent for improv”. Classes focus on trying things out, reacting and being in a group, not on performances or judging. We meet in an intimate group and work through simple exercises that introduce the world of improvisation step by step.

It's a good space to:

• get looser in your actions
• move from your head to experience
• meet people naturally

The atmosphere of the sessions is calm, friendly and attentive — so that everyone can work at their own pace.

What does it look like?

• 3 workshop meetings
• small group (up to 10 people)
• work through experience and conversation
• no performances and no pressure

Instructor: Piotr Więckowski — improviser from the group OniOne, lecturer at the Pontifical University, co-creator of role-playing games at the Nausika Foundation, event organizer. Since 2023 he has been active in the Kraków improv scene. With OniOne he has many public performances to his name (including a performance at the Night Shows of Improfest) as well as numerous guest appearances. He studied under at least 8 improv instructors and improvisers. He has completed various themed improv courses, as well as ones in clowning and creating sketches.
