"Lean over the railing, put your head underwater. Do you hear it? It's the soul of Gusta singing. It's wonderful to accompany her on this journey. I love this story. About women who pursue their dreams despite difficult times. About non-human beings seeping into human lives. About imagination that brings hope." - Dyba Lach It's the year '67. Gusta Star boards a ship named "Morzeca" with the hope that a journey across the Baltic will free her from the oppression of the Polish People's Republic and offer her one last chance at an international career. However, the voyage reveals more about the ship's passengers than anyone would like to admit. The Morzece, Baltic mermaids—half-girls, half-fish—whose greatest treasure is their voice, also have their own plans for adventure. The sea has its own voice, which will resound loudly like an opera. "Morzeca" is my "storm-book." It's like a diva and isn't pleased when I don't listen to it. I've learned my lesson and know that this book needs freedom. It teaches that mermaids must be strong and protect each other to survive. That's why there had to be turmoil, that's why only by swimming against the current do I feel at home. I dedicate it to the Morzece of my life, who sail with me. Without you, coming ashore would be a mistake." - Sylwia Stano Dr. Sylwia Stano – graduate of the Faculty of Polish Studies at the University of Warsaw and postgraduate studies "Management for creators, artists, and cultural animators" at the Faculty of Management at the University of Warsaw.
