About the event

How NOT to Misdiagnose ADHD in Children — in-person training | Warsaw

ADHD is now one of the most frequently given diagnoses when working with children. But meeting criteria does not always mean an accurate diagnosis. This training is about clinical thinking — differentiating, pausing, and diagnostic responsibility, especially when time pressure and parents’ expectations are high.

Date and times:
14–15.03.2026 r.
Saturday 9:00–18:00
Sunday 9:00–13:00

Location:
Warsaw, ul. Niedźwiedzia 4B

Price:
550 zł

Program:

  • ADHD – criteria are not everything
  • What looks like ADHD but is not:
    • autism spectrum (ASD)
    • trauma
    • childhood anxiety disorders and depression
    • attachment disorders and emotional deprivation
    • developmental immaturity
    • sensory and regulatory difficulties
  • An interview that protects against error:
    • differentiating questions instead of leading ones
    • key elements of the developmental interview
    • how to read reports from school and kindergarten
    • when discrepancies matter more than consistency
  • Diagnostic tools — how NOT to overuse them:
    • what questionnaires measure and what they don’t
    • attention and executive function tests in context
    • the “confirmation bias” effect
  • When NOT to diagnose ADHD:
    • deferred diagnosis as a deliberate decision
    • how to communicate the absence of a diagnosis to parents
    • what instead of a label: recommendations, support, observation

After the training:

  • you will recognize high-risk situations for ADHD misdiagnosis
  • you will be more confident differentiating ADHD from other difficulties
  • you will learn to deliberately withhold diagnosis when needed
  • you will gain greater diagnostic calm

You will receive:

  • interview questionnaires
  • theoretical script
  • working cards to use in diagnosis
  • certificate of participation

Presenters:

  • Joanna Andrzejewska – child and adolescent psychotherapist
  • Michalina Rojek – psychologist

If you care about a reliable, responsible ADHD diagnosis in children — we invite you to participate.
