ADHD and the Autism Spectrum - Sexuality of Children and Adolescents

Psychosexual development of children and adolescents in typical development as well as on the autism spectrum and with ADHD.

The training is dedicated to professionals and parents who want to deepen their knowledge about the psychosexual development of preschool and early-school-age children. This meeting combines comprehensive theoretical knowledge with practical tools to help support children in understanding relationships, bodily boundaries, and the world of emotions.

During the training, participants will learn how to talk with children about the body, intimacy and relationships, how to support emotional and social development in everyday situations, and how to respond to challenging behaviors — especially in children on the autism spectrum and with ADHD. We will jointly analyze the course of psychosexual development in neurotypical and neurodivergent children.

In the workshop part, an original method for teaching bodily boundaries to children and adolescents will be presented, which can be used by parents, teachers and therapists. It allows safely and naturally exploring the world while shaping healthy beliefs about relationships, closeness and intimacy.

During the training we will discuss, among others:

• psychosexual development of a child from conception to adolescence;
• what a child should know about body anatomy, parenting and boundaries of intimacy;
• sexual education in everyday life;
• protection of one’s own body, learning to understand and communicate boundaries;
• parental attitudes and the impact of family relationships on a child's psychosexual development;
• self-stimulatory behaviors – how to understand them;
• the impact of sensory disorders on psychosexual development;
• games and forms of exploring the world: norm or disorder?;
• possible risks of psychosexual development disorders in the context of neurodivergence;
• creating educational materials;
• case study.

Instructor:
MA Paulina Natalia Podrez — founder of Przestrzeń Holistic centers, psychologist, psychodynamic psychotherapist, sexologist, couples therapist. Member of the Polish Sexological Society and the Polish Society for Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.

She has over 14 years of therapeutic experience; since 2022 founder of the Przestrzeń Holistic clinic with two branches in Warsaw. In recent years she has mainly worked with adults, conducting individual and couples therapy, as well as sexual education for people on the autism spectrum and with ADHD. She created an original program for teaching bodily boundaries to children and adolescents in typical development and those on the autism spectrum and with ADHD.
