About the event

Guido Hendrikx’s documentary Stranger in Paradise is a provocative and courageous reflection on the migration crisis that has divided Europe for years. The director confronts a group of refugees with a fictional teacher, placing them in a classroom setting where different perspectives are presented: from openly hostile, filled with resentment and prejudice, to more empathetic, open to dialogue and understanding. Hendrikx deliberately balances on the boundary between documentary and staging, creating a space in which the viewer must confront their own attitudes toward the “other.” The film offers no simple answers or ready-made solutions; instead, it functions as a mirror, reflecting social fears, stereotypes, and hidden anxieties. Stranger in Paradise becomes not only a story about migration, but also a universal commentary on mechanisms of exclusion and the limits of our empathy.

After the screening, we invite you to a meeting with the director.
