The conversation with the author will be led by Kaja Klimek — educator, translator, film and pop culture critic, graduate of journalism and cultural studies at the Jagiellonian University. She constantly discusses films — with audiences whenever possible, with creators at festivals, with other critics in the media, with students and, most importantly, with children and young people as part of the film education programs of the New Horizons Association. Online she is active as Kajutex.
When the canon of cult films and TV series of the Polish People’s Republic was forming at the end of the last century, productions such as “The Cruise”, “All Friends Here” and the works of Stanisław Bareja — comedies ridiculing the reality of the former system and national shortcomings — were included. How is it possible that the serious series “07, Report In”, about an officer of the Citizens’ Militia, a formation widely disliked and associated with political repression, was also part of that group? Rafał Dajbor passionately follows the phenomenon of Lieutenant Borewicz’s popularity, who has already gained the status of an icon of Polish pop culture. He looks behind the scenes of the series’ production, recalls little-known anecdotes from the set and tries to dispel the stereotypes that have grown around the production.
This is a book for everyone who wants to look at Borewicz with fresh eyes — not only as the hero of a crime series, but also as a cultural phenomenon that continues to fascinate successive generations of viewers. You can buy the book on the publisher's website: https://krytykapolityczna.pl.
Books will be available for purchase and signing during the event.
