    About the event

We invite you to unique walks with educators prepared by Ewa Szachowska, who passionately combines culture with nature in her educational work. This time, we will be accompanied by Rachel Ruysch – one of the most positive female artists active at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries. Rachel Ruysch's metaphorical bouquets – what do they tell us today? We will follow the floral story of the life of this exceptional artist, who gained great recognition during her lifetime. She arranged flowers in characteristic asymmetrical compositions with baroque light and dark backgrounds. She painted plants at the peak of their bloom. And among colorful flowers, leaves, and ripe fruits, she hid something more... During the walk, you will learn, among other things, what had the greatest influence on her artistic choices. How her art evolved over the years and why her works are so rich in diversity, colors, and opulence. By telling the story of this extraordinary artist's life and work, we would like to, during our shared walk, use the resources of the Garden to closely examine the plants, flowers, and fruits that were the main subjects of her artistic interests. 🌸 Come for a walk – let's experience the beauty of nature together! Let these walks be an inspiration for sensitive souls! 📅 WALK DATES: - July 12 and 13 - August 9 and 10 - September 13 and 14 - October 11 and 12 ⏰ Time: 1:00 PM 📍 Meeting point: Ticket office no. 1. No registration required. However, the number of spots is limited – 15 people. To participate in the walk, you need to purchase an entrance ticket and collect a FREE PASS at the ticket office, which entitles you to join the walk. The walks last about 1 hour. Ewa Szachowska – a plant and art history enthusiast both by education and passion, working in both fields. An art therapist, coordinator, and author of educational projects, as well as a long-time collaborator with the Arttransfer Foundation (since 2013). She conducts workshops, guided tours, lectures, and various educational activities using art as a medium, mainly dedicated to adults, especially seniors, as well as people with disabilities and children. Her second great passion is the world of plants, which she often references during her art history lectures. She shares her botanical fascinations by leading educational walks and thematic workshops at the Botanical Garden of the University of Warsaw (since 2019). Plants have been fascinating and inspiring humans for thousands of years. Creators, apart from directly depicting them on paper or canvas, use their symbolic nature in various fields of art. They consciously draw from Flora's realm, adding plants to their bouquet of metaphors, to flowerbeds full of ornaments, or clusters of colorful spots. At events related to the new thematic year #ArtisticBotanical, we will follow plant motifs in art. We will look at the world through the eyes of creators of literature, painting, architecture, and more. Perhaps together we will find new inspirations for our own creativity? We invite you!
