Guided tour along the most scenic trails of the northern part of the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland: - 12 kilometers of hiking through pine forests and limestone rocks with fantastic shapes; - We will climb Góra Zborów and Góra Biakło, known as the Jurassic Giewont; - We will visit the castle in Olsztyn, one of the fortresses on the Trail of the Eagles' Nests; - We will see the Twardowski Gate – a limestone rock bridge; - After sightseeing, lunch at a regional restaurant with delicious trout from local farms. 📅 PROGRAM: Meeting in Warsaw at 05:15, stop at Emilii Plater Street 47, breakfast break on the way. We will start exploring the Upland with a short hike in Podlesice, where we will climb Góra Zborów, also known as Berkowa Góra (467 m above sea level) – a rocky hill that serves as a viewpoint and one of the most important climbing areas in the Upland. On Góra Zborów, we will take a break and return to the parking lot. - Distance to cover: approx. 2.5 km in about 1.5 hours, elevation gain +93 m/-90 m. Transfer to Ostrężnik, from where we will walk to see the limestone rock bridge – the Twardowski Gate. The name of this rock formation was given by poet Zygmunt Krasiński, who rested in the area. Transfer to the village of Zrębice, where we will see the shingle-roofed church of St. Idzi from 1789 and set off on another hike. We will walk through the picturesque Sokole Góry reserve, a complex of limestone hills covered with beech forests. The highest hill in the reserve is Puchacz (402 m above sea level). The protected area includes rich karst formations and numerous caves that serve as bat shelters. We will climb Góra Biakło (340 m above sea level), a rocky remnant shaped like a comb, which, due to its resemblance to Giewont and the cross placed on its summit, is called Little Giewont or Jurassic Giewont. In Olsztyn, we will visit the ruins of a 14th-century castle built on limestone rock with numerous natural caves, which in the Middle Ages was one of the largest Polish fortresses. Today, the castle retains the walls of the residential part, towers: cylindrical (keep) and square (Starościańska), fragments of walls of utility buildings, partially also cellars, as well as foundations of a smithy and traces of bloomery discovered during archaeological research. - Distance to cover: approx. 8 km in about 2.5 hours, elevation gain +134 m/-157 m. After sightseeing, we will have lunch (extra charge), the culinary specialty of the Upland is delicious trout prepared in various ways.
