
Emotion Aid® – regulating the nervous system in stressful situations Kraków, 17.01.2026 We invite you to a workshop focused on the topic of regulating the nervous system in stressful situations using body-based techniques. The starting point, which also sets the thematic framework, will be the Emotion Aid® procedure. This is a short intervention, lasting 15-25 minutes, derived from the principles of Somatic Experiencing®, which helps to cope with difficult emotions and reactions in stressful and critical moments, such as: accelerated heart rate, rapid and shallow breathing, body tremors, disorientation, fear, anxiety, panic, helplessness. The workshop will be an opportunity to learn and experience this specific tool. At the same time, the 5-step procedure will open the possibility to learn and experience various self-regulation methods, serving as a basis for a brief expansion of the following topics: STEP 1 ACTIVATION In response to stressful events, our autonomic nervous system triggers specific sequences of sensations in the body and mobilizes our energy. - Introduction to the topic of ANS arousal levels (based on the "polyvagal ladder" concept: D. Dana, Personal ANS profile map, Trigger and glimmer map) and ways to recognize them. - Tools for regulating the ANS through movement (bilateral stimulation, proprioception strengthening exercises). STEP 2 GROUNDING When exposed to high stress or traumatic shock, we lose contact with our body. We feel uncertain, lost. Grounding helps us return to the here and now, regain control over the situation, and restore a sense of safety. - Building grounding using techniques involving movement, senses, self-touch. - Orienting response supporting the strengthening of neuroception of safety. STEP 3 REGULATION The basis of regulating arousal levels is the ability to observe our felt sense (internal feeling), which is described by five channels of experience (bodily sensations, senses, behaviors, emotions, meanings). - SIBAM – 5 channels of human experience. - Observing and following sensations in the body (mindfulness of the language of sensations). - Body awareness practices (including self-regulation techniques through breath, self-soothing). STEP 4 DISCHARGE Discharge involves releasing the energy we have accumulated to cope in a stressful or difficult situation, in the face of danger or threat. - Various ways to discharge ANS arousal (mindfulness, breath, movement, neurogenic tremors). STEP 5 CONNECTING WITH RESOURCES A resource is something we can draw from to feel good. It can be a person, place, object, memory, personal experience, or activity that evokes pleasant and calming emotions or a sense of strength. - Internal and external resources (based on the concept: D.
