FRENCH MAZURKA is a calm, romantic couple dance that is sure to appear at every Bal Folk party, practically all over Europe. This dance most likely has its roots in the Polish mazur. It spread throughout Europe and many other places in the world thanks to Polish emigration in the first half of the 19th century. In France at that time, the lively, dynamic dance, influenced by the fashion for the waltz, transformed into a calmer dance more suited to French salons, and from there it made its way to rural dance floors. At the end of the 1960s, thanks to French hippies and the European "Revival" movement, the mazurka was "rediscovered" and became a permanent fixture at Bal Folk events. Since then, it has gained more and more fans, as well as creators who, inspired by old melodies, compose new beautiful pieces for dancing. It was "brought back" to Poland by dance enthusiasts at the beginning of the 21st century. Currently, the "mazurka" is increasingly danced in the "nuovo" style, close and sensual. The formula of dancing, following and spinning with the characteristic "hop" upwards, in a circle, in the style where all participants formed a dance community, a common dance circle, has been lost. We propose a return to this older form, which we learned ourselves in France. It will also be a return to the characteristic circle dancing, so typical of traditional communities throughout Europe and beyond. During the workshops, we will master the basic steps. We will learn to spin in the mazurka in a circle and discover figures that will allow you to further embellish your dance. During the workshop, we will also pay attention to the relationships that occur in the dance between partners so that dancing together brings you as much pleasure as possible. During our workshops, you will improve your steps and the rules that apply in non-stage forms of traditional dance performed at parties, so that dancing brings you as much pleasure and joy as possible. Our workshops can be treated as dance practice or fitness classes, during which we will meet new people and spend time in a pleasant atmosphere, and at the same time get rid of unnecessary calories to Polish traditional music. During the workshops, there will be rhythmic exercises that will help you develop a sense of rhythm, motor coordination, strengthen your physical fitness, and give your dance movements strength, fluidity, and lightness. It will also be a large dose of inspiration, good fun, and a pleasant way to spend free time among fantastic people who come to our workshops. It will also be an opportunity to meet interesting people, which will help you quickly find a dance partner for any occasion where traditional music appears.
