We invite you in January to another weekly workshop of the Traditional Dance Academy. This time, we offer embellishments in traditional dances, which will be perfect for CARNIVAL. Dance is a living matter and, just like 100 or 200 years ago, it naturally undergoes constant changes and development, although this process is much faster today than in the past. Mazurek Freestyle is a new formula for dancing Polish traditional dances, especially in triple meter, which our Traditional Dance Academy is the only one in Poland to have been developing for over two decades. Thanks to our efforts, it is appearing more and more often at urban and rural dance parties throughout Poland, enriching our native dances with new embellishments and stylistic forms. During the workshops, we will learn various embellishments observed from traditional rural dance masters or taken from available archival materials. Then, we will expand our skills with new embellishments that fit Polish traditional dances but are borrowed from other dance traditions. Just as the language we use every day changes, so will our dance, which, though in the spirit and style of old Polish traditional dances, will "speak" in a contemporary way. This is where the style we call Mazurek Freestyle comes from. Although embellishments in Mazurek Freestyle can be applied to various dances, during our workshops we will base them on the steps of the RADOMSKI OBERK. During our workshops, you will improve your steps and the rules that apply to non-stage forms of traditional dance performed at dance parties, so that dancing brings you as much pleasure and joy as possible. Our workshops can be treated as dance practice or fitness classes, during which we will meet new people and spend time in a pleasant atmosphere, and at the same time get rid of unnecessary calories to Polish traditional music. During the workshops, there will be rhythmic exercises that will help you develop a sense of rhythm, motor coordination, strengthen your physical fitness, and give your dance movements strength, fluidity, and lightness. It will also be a large dose of inspiration, good fun, and a pleasant way to spend free time among fantastic people who come to our workshops. It will also be an opportunity to meet interesting people, which will help you quickly find a dance partner for any occasion where traditional music appears.
