Techno Rzeczpospolita is an intense documentary performance about Poland seen from the dancefloor’s perspective. It shows how clubs, raves and electronic music became spaces of freedom, community and protest for young people during the political transformation. It tells the story of a generation that grew up between the end of the Polish People’s Republic and the capitalist dreams of the 1990s — to the rhythm of bass, strobes and illegal parties.
Note: The performance will take place in the Kino Muranów foyer, which for the event will be transformed into a theatrical space. This is not a screening in a cinema auditorium.

The performance was created based on the anthology „30 lat polskiej sceny techno" (wyd. Krytyki Politycznej) — a unique collection of accounts from DJs, promoters, ravers and club owners. From these voices the creators build a techno-documentary theatre: a bodily, rhythmic time machine that leads the audience from the first parties, through the chaos of transformation, to contemporary rave culture.
This is not a tale of "the young and rebellious." It records a real generational experience in which strobe lights clash with systemic change and the dancefloor becomes an alternative form of freedom. Techno appears here as a cultural code — a form of resistance, community and identity-seeking.
The creators pay tribute to a culture that for many was a refuge, a ritual and meaning. Techno Rzeczpospolita is a manifestation of freedom that can only happen on the dancefloor.
The performance includes poems by Ilona Witkowska and original texts by actors created during rehearsals.
The performance was produced by the Stanisław Wyspiański Academy of Theatre Arts in Kraków, Wrocław branch.
