An Evening of Short Works at the Zawirowania Dance Theatre

We invite you to a special evening of short works at the Zawirowania Dance Theatre, during which four solo pieces will be presented:

• "Sometimes I Hear My Voice" — a movement attempt to liberate the female body from aesthetic categories, narrative contexts and legislative frameworks imposed by the male gaze. It is also a personal story about the struggle for the right to agency and acceptance and love of one's own body, regardless of degree of ability and visual attributes.

  Creation and performance: Julia Buczynska.
• "Not a Place but a State" — choreography becomes here a process of creating new paths within inner construction, approaching a sense of safety. It is a constant attempt to rebuild connections, which each time reveals a new perspective on reality and invites the audience to experience themselves in the observed movement.
  
  Choreography and performance: Agnieszka Sikorska.
• "Verbum Corpus" — inspired by the thought of Maurice Merleau-Ponty, it shows the relationship of perception and communication with space and the body. The protagonist, whose difficulty in expressing herself becomes the central point, seeks a way to speak and be understood; it is a personal journey to break the silence and give voice to what previously remained unspoken.

• "Performance Dream" — the piece refers to experiences related to dream states and that part of consciousness on the border of wakefulness and sleep. Two realities overlap here: one subject to the reality of dreams and paralysis, the other reflecting imaginations and dreams that indirectly guide the body. It is movement that forms a bridge between worlds, creating something surreal.
