Pogórze Kaczawskie – Land of Extinct Volcanoes, KGP Peaks and the Oldest Town in Poland
About the event
At the junction of the Pogórze Kaczawskie, Pogórze Wałbrzyskie and the Kaczawskie Mountains there are many unique, still little-known attractions — peaks included in the KGP, the Land of Extinct Volcanoes belonging to the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network, the oldest town in Poland and stories from the time of the Mongol invasion. This expedition is intended for active people, but you don’t need to be an experienced climber — basic physical fitness and readiness to walk a few kilometers amid stunning nature are sufficient.

PROGRAM:
- 1st DAY – 16 MAY 2026 (SATURDAY): Meeting: 16 May 2026 (Saturday) at 05:30. Departure from Warsaw at 05:40. En route there will be regeneration breaks and one longer breakfast break. Educational Farm in Dobków – Geopark “Land of Extinct Volcanoes": in Dobków we will learn what volcanism was, get to know the history of Lower Silesian volcanoes and the history of our planet. Hiking: Skopiec (KGP) → Folwarczna (11.5 km) – we will reach both summits; the trekking route will be about 9.5 km (380 m ascent and 380 m descent). Złotoryja – city walk: we will see the Romanesque–Gothic church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (for those interested the unique interior can be viewed on Sunday morning between services at 7:30 and 9:30), the town hall with the market square and St. Jadwiga’s church along with the former Franciscan complex. Transfer to the hotel, check-in and dinner.
- 2nd DAY – 17 MAY 2026 (SUNDAY): Breakfast, check-out from the hotel. Wielisław Organs – walk around the Wielisławka hill (approx. 3.5 km) along the Kaczawa valley. Myślibórz Gorge – approx. 9 km walk; we will see a natural site of the common toothwort, pillow basalts, mixed broadleaf forests and feel the specific microclimate of the reserve. Legnickie Pole – we will visit the Battle of Legnica Museum and learn the history of the battle with the Mongols and Henry II the Pious. Departure to Warsaw at around 15:30; return to Warsaw around 22:00–23:00 (depending on road conditions). En route there will be a meal break at own expense.
