The Archaeological Museum in Kraków invites you to a historical embroidery workshop: the bargello technique, as part of the “Krakow Women’s Month” event.
“Krakow Women’s Month” is a city initiative organised by the Kraków City Office, devoted to the role of women in the history, development and contemporary life of Kraków.
Embroidery is not only an intricately built composition of threads and stitches, but above all a process made up of patience, concentration and precision, ending with a great deal of satisfaction with the completed work. During the classes we will tackle historical bargello embroidery – a 16th-century technique born in Florence – and try to create our own interpretation of a chosen motif.
The classes are practical in form. Participants will learn what the bargello technique consists of, how to work the stitches and how to build a composition, and then will go through subsequent stages of work under the instructor’s supervision. In March the workshops will take place twice; these will be thematically linked meetings that complement each other.
