What goes better together than hot summer afternoons and long conversations about books? We invite you to a series of three meetings of the Ochota Summer Reading Club. The meetings will take place every two weeks and will focus on the themes of ecology and the Anthropocene in literature. We will examine how the relationship between humans and nature is depicted in prose and poetry. We will also attempt to reverse the anthropocentric perspective and explore how literature tries to decentralize the position of humans. Meeting schedule: - 📅 21.08 - Richard Powers “The Overstory”; the meeting will be led by Gabriela Filipowicz. - 📅 5.09 - Hiroko Oyamada “The Garden”; the meeting will be led by Klaudia Januszewska. - 📅 19.09 - a discussion on ecopoetics and a shared reading of poems by, among others, Julia Fiedorczuk, Małgorzata Lebda, Urszula Zajączkowska; the meeting will be led by Dominika Filipowicz.
