Discover a new dimension of working with athletes – combine psychology with the intelligence of the body.
Sports psychology has long supported athletes, coaches and parents in building mental resilience and developing skills needed to achieve top performance. Today, however, we know that effective work with an athlete is much more than mental training – it is a holistic approach that includes the body, emotions and relationships.
During the “Body Psychology in Sport” workshop you will learn practical ways for sports psychologists to use body-based methods – including Dr. Peter A. Levine’s Somatic Experiencing®, which helps release the body from the effects of stress and trauma, supporting the building of a healthy relationship with emotions, stress and performance pressure.
You will also understand how to practically apply Stephen Porges’ Polyvagal Theory – a concept describing the role of the autonomic nervous system in emotion regulation, social relationships and stress responses.
