I invite you to an afternoon walk through a charming, small town located at the foot of the Royal Castle. We will discover two faces of Mariensztat: the new and the old. We will also visit an extremely interesting part of my hometown Powiśle. Here's how Konstanty Ildefons Gałczyński beautifully wrote about Mariensztat in his poem: "Mariensztat Madness" "...Mariensztat is my inspiration, Mariensztat is precious stones, In Mariensztat, you will discover Warsaw More beautiful than a dream." During the walk, we will learn, among other things: - where the old mechanism of the escalators is hidden - which Maria gave Mariensztat its name - which street was called Gnojowa - where Pan Zagłoba fought with monkeys - where the hotel center was located - where the spa centers stood - what happened in the parking lot at Bednarska - what Chopin competition guests have in common with a certain house - where the tallest residential building of the time stood - who teased and pinched Andrzej Łapicki's ear - what's wrong with the Mariensztat market vendor - what can be built in 19 days - who discovered Józef Ignacy Kraszewski 📅 Start: 4.10 (Saturday), 5 PM, at St. Anne's Church on Krakowskie Przedmieście. 📍 End: Mariensztat Market Square ⏳ Duration of the tour: approximately 90 minutes The walk will be led by KASIA - a licensed Warsaw guide and native Varsovian. 📞 Tel.: 505 023 782 Participation in the walk is free, but a tip after the walk will be appreciated. We gently remind you that we put a lot of substantive and documentary work into preparing the walk to make it as attractive as possible for you.
