I invite you to a walk through Old Powązki, one of Warsaw’s oldest necropolises, which over the years has become a pantheon not only of Warsaw but of Poland.
- This magical place is full of mysteries and extraordinary tales about people connected with the history of Warsaw and Poland. During the walk we will learn, among other things:
- how to spectacularly honor a wife’s memory
- how the romance of Wisienka ended
- whom the “poor Polish orphan” kissed
- who Mickiewicz married
- who, for love, rejected a chance at a Hollywood career
- who was the PRL-era power couple
- who Kiepura acted as matchmaker for
- who was the most important person in Moniuszko’s life
- who could not part from his deceased wife
- whom the “last baron of the People’s Republic” loved
- who lost a millionaire wife and her fortune
- and many other stories.
Start: 8.03 (Sunday), 12:00, in front of the second gate - St. Honorata, ul. Powązkowska 1.
The walk will be led by Kasia - a licensed Warsaw guide and blogger.
Tel. 505 023 782
Participation in the walk is free, but a tip will be appreciated after the walk.
We gently remind you that we put a huge amount of substantive and documentary work into preparing the walk so that it is as attractive as possible for you.
