GEN Z × THEATER: Workshops for theatre staff
From insights to offer — designing together!
Young people don’t go to the theatre. Or they come once — because they had to at school — and don’t return. Or they come and feel out of place.
Over recent months we conducted in-depth research with people aged 18–29: interviews, observations during performances, creative workshops, surveys. We spoke separately with high-school graduates and with 28-year-olds, because they are not a single group.
A few things we heard:
- Going to the theatre is a social event — if your companion feels uncomfortable, it spoils the evening for both.
- They don’t know what to expect — a performance description often tells them nothing, the entry barrier is high.
- They feel judged — they don’t know how to dress, whether it’s appropriate to clap, they fear doing something "wrong".
What will we do in the workshops?
- 2 days of work based on research materials:
- We will go through the key insights.
- We will translate them into a user experience map.
- You will develop concrete ideas for changes in your institution.
- You will test them on personas based on real data.
You will leave with:
- An understanding of what Gen Z really looks for.
- Ideas ready for implementation.
- Tools: personas, journey map, checklists.
Who is it for?
For people from theatres working on: education, accompanying programmes, marketing, communication, audience services, repertoire programming.
