In the Footsteps of Bolesław Prus's "The Doll"

    About the event

I invite you to a walk in the footsteps of Bolesław Prus's "The Doll". During the walk, we will travel back in time to 19th-century Warsaw, viewing photographs from that era. ✨ We meet on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at 12:00 at the Jan Kiliński monument (Podwale). The walk is planned to last 1.5 hours. During the walk, we will learn, among other things: - Where did Wokulski see Izabela for the first time? - Where did Rzecki meet those praying for the success of the Łęcki tenement auction? - Where was old Mincl's shop located? - Where did Wokulski host a banquet? - What did Prus omit in the novel? - How did Bolesław Prus propose to honor Mickiewicz? - Why does Bolesław Prus's monument stand on a low pedestal? - Where was the Gebethner and Wolff publishing house located? - Where did Wokulski meet the two women whom he soon helped in their life difficulties? - In which building did Wokulski study? - Where was Wokulski's shop located? - In which church did the baroness order 3 masses? - Where was Wokulski's apartment and what did he see from the window? There is no fee for participating in the walk, but if you feel the guide deserves a tip... The walk will be led by a city guide from Warszawski Zaułek. You are warmly invited and see you there.
