About the event

On the occasion of International Women’s Day (March 8), I also invite gentlemen to a walk following the traces of remarkable and lesser-known women buried at the Old Powązki Cemetery. There will also be works and pieces by women who left memories behind…

📅
We meet on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at 11:00 AM in front of Gate IV, Powązkowska Street near Tatarska Street. The walk is planned to last about 2 hours.

  • Who was the famous scandalous woman of the PRL era?
  • At whose funeral were the words said: "The writer died, and so life begins"?
  • At whose place in Warsaw were "literary Thursdays" organized?
  • To whom do we owe the most recognizable childhood tales?
  • Who was "Dziunia" and with whom did she compete "until the last day"?
  • Whom was erased from the national memory as a result of a scandal?
  • Thanks to whom does a song become a hit?
  • To whom do we owe the magazine Płomyk?
  • Who was called the "lady of children's literature"?
  • On whose grave are the words engraved: "She served people, sought Truth, lived with Love…"?
  • Where does the love of "Zośka" rest?
  • Which of the ladies was versatilely talented and described in the press?
  • On which grave will we find the motif of "resurrection"?
  • Who was and where rests the first female gynecologist on Polish lands?
  • Who lived in a theater dressing room during their career?
  • Which actress risked her life before becoming recognizable?
  • Whose piece became the first hit in the world?
  • And many others…
