Workshop: Moorish tile decoration – Arista Technique (Alcazar in your hands)
Do you dream of a moment of deep focus and a journey to sunny Andalusia? Join a special, 3-hour ceramic decorating workshop in the Arista technique (linear relief). This is a method that has decorated the walls of the Alcazar palace for centuries, and now you can learn its secrets in the heart of Warsaw’s Praga.
Why is this workshop special?
I take on all the 'dirty work' and the lengthy technological process: I hand-form, dry and fire the tiles at 1000°C. Thanks to this, from the very first minute you immerse yourself in the magic of colour and precise decoration.
What to expect during the meeting?
- Theoretical part (30 min): you will learn how historical masters from Seville and Granada built monumental decorations; I will talk about Islamic geometry — a system based on rhythm and mathematical harmony.
- Practical part (2.5 h):
- You will receive two professionally prepared bisqueware pieces with relief (15x15 cm).
- You will learn to apply glazes using two methods: with a brush and with a specialist bottle applicator.
- You will learn how to create 'barriers' for the glaze so colors never mix, preserving incredible colour purity.
- You will create your own palette in the Andalusian aesthetic: from deep blues to honeyed yellows.
