This is a quartet that plays by its own rules – without pathos, with openness and attentiveness to sound. Dimitrios Hartwich-Vrazas - saxophonist, composer, and arranger. He co-creates original projects, including: JUNA, Escape Velocity, and the duo Anti-Zoomer. He also performs in theatrical productions. He enjoys playing chess and has recently returned to a childhood passion – conceptualizing unnecessary inventions. Maja Babyszka - pianist, composer, and vocalist. A scholarship recipient at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and a laureate of international piano competitions in Paris, Milan, and Sofia. She specializes in improvised music at the intersection of classical, jazz, and world music. In her free time, she delves into Jungian psychology, ethnobotany, and sound maps of traditional cultures. Jan Jerzy Kołacki (Dżej Dżej) - double bassist, conductor, vocalist, and composer. A double bassist in the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic Orchestra and the contemporary music septet Telam Ensemble. Co-founder of several new wave jazz formations, including Kratisa Q and Follow Dices. In his spare time, he explores ephemeral spaces of nature and quantum physics. Jakub Jugo - drummer by choice. In recent years, he has been dedicated to developing projects presenting original music. He co-creates bands such as: Kratisa Q, Ascetic, Jugo/Vrazas/Witczyński, Wilcze Sidła, kilka czułości, JUNA, Escape Velocity, and Duet Niemili. In his free time, he plays chess and explores the secrets of Caucasian cuisine. The debut album "Flare" evokes those musical traditions that have essentially faded away. Only their saturated, forgotten momentary reflection can be seen. Ancient Greek melodies, like the flare of a distant star, remind us of their existence, while remaining elusive in the distant past. The original, personal compositions prompt questions about what is originally beautiful and unchanging. In addition to original compositions, the album features the Greek melody Hymn to the Muse by Mesomedes of Crete, who lived in the first half of the 2nd century AD, as well as 20th-century folk themes by Giannakis Ioannidis and Mikis Theodorakis. The latter is considered one of the most important and well-known Greek composers of the 20th century. "An incredibly mature improvising band. Fiery and subtle at the same time – it's great to listen to! I recommend it wholeheartedly." Jorgos Skolias "The debut album of the band Kratisa Q "Flare" is a space where multidimensional planes of musical understanding intersect, introducing the listener to a world of sophisticated compositions and their interpretations, based on the wide spectrum of improvisational possibilities of all quartet members. It's music full of depth that captivates with its own story."
