About the event

I invite you to a 2-day somatics workshop in Kraków with Feldenkrais lessons on turns and rotation, where we will increase our mobility and independently take care of our health and well-being. Classes will take place in a nice, warm room in the city center.



HOW? These are movement classes in which I will explain what position to adopt and what movement to make. Each participant performs a given movement only as much as is easy for them, without physical exertion and without pain, within their own current capabilities and comfort. Participants will seek the easiest and simplest way on their own, without comparing themselves to others and without imitating. I will suggest what to pay attention to and offer variant options worth trying. Participants will explore and experience different options to choose the best one for themselves. No one will judge anyone. There will be breaks between movements to rest and calmly process recent experiences.



Each lesson, through a specific sequence of positions and movements, leads to improvement in some skill (e.g., standing up, reaching, turning, or walking), which we have the opportunity to experience during and immediately after the class. Direct results include, among others, a greater range of free movement, better posture, easier movement and breathing.



At the workshop we will do about eight such lessons. There will be breaks between them, and after breaks there will be time for comments, questions and answers, to better understand what we are doing and why. In this way we work as a group that learns together and benefits from participants' individual experiences. Each lesson can then be practiced at home. The workshop is an introduction to an independent, regular practice.



PRELIMINARY SCHEDULE — rotational movement:



Saturday:



  • 1. Lengthening along the spine
  • 2. Relief in the shoulders
  • 3. Relaxation of the chest
  • 4. Infant movement with a surprise


Sunday:



  • 5. How the arm rolls the head
  • 6. The pelvis moves the spine and head
  • 7. Pelvic circles and a “laser” across the floor
  • 8. Getting up with ease


BENEFITS:



  • Relaxed muscles and relief — the movement is gentle, unhurried, without ambition and without competing with others.
  • Rest — we make a small movement, avoid exertion, but at the same time think about that movement and forget other matters — “a clear mind”.
  • Focus and calm — during the class we concentrate attention on the movement to find the easiest way. We develop the ability to keep attention on one topic.
  • Better coordination and fitness — we learn to move differently than usual, change habits and routines, improve movement organization, and increase body awareness and motor intelligence.
  • Pleasure — soft, unforced movement is full of pleasant sensations; we feel better and in a better mood.
  • Developed learning and adaptability to changing and uncertain situations.


FOR WHOM: Somatics is a method for anyone who wants to move better, develop or recover, regardless of age or physical condition. Classes are conducted without imitation, comparison with others, or critical judgment. Everyone performs movements independently, at their own pace, gently, with attention to themselves, their own sensations and current abilities. You can stop, take a break and rest at any time. The event is recommended for people of all ages, including older adults and those who experience pain.



  • The classes are also a proposal for athletes, yogis, actors, dancers, physiotherapists and all those who professionally or as a hobby work with the body.


LEADER — my name is Paweł Wójtowicz:



  • I have practiced somatics for 16 years — I learn and teach others how to move better.
  • I am a certified teacher of the Feldenkrais Method — in 2014 I completed a 4-year training in England.
  • For 12 years I have been running workshops throughout Poland, over 40 per year.
  • I conduct classes with somatics students at the Academy of Music in Łódź.
  • I do lessons for myself every day and regularly develop new ones — it is my regular practice that helps me function day to day.
  • I work with children with cerebral palsy; among other things, for several years I traveled to Ukraine and Kazakhstan for this purpose.
  • I wrote and published the book “Notatki z podłogi” (Notes from the Floor) about my work and practice.
  • My teachers are Maurice Merleau-Ponty and Moshe Feldenkrais.

ORGANIZATIONAL INFORMATION:
TIME: 21–22 March 2026; Saturday 13:00–18:00, Sunday 10:00–15:00.
PLACE: Warsztatowa 5, ul. Dunajewskiego 5, rear building, stairwell D, third floor, Kraków.
PRICE: 450 PLN for one person; for two or more people registering together 400 PLN per person. It is possible to receive a VAT invoice and a certificate of participation.
REGISTRATION: by email pawel.wojtowicz@poczta.fm with the note in the subject “Somatyka w Krakowie”. Group size is limited by room size. Order of applications decides. Registration only for the whole event, for two days.
Bring comfortable clothing; we practice without shoes. Mats and blankets are provided on site.
