During a tour of the exhibition we will see, among other things, the remarkable tapestry by Hannah Ryggen and paintings by folk women painters.
Together we will consider:
We will also look at different techniques and compare what they can do. We will check how precisely flowers can be painted with a brush and what level of detail the weaving technique allows. Are simple marks, shapes and color patches enough to represent a person, nature and a landscape? Is precision always necessary in art?
In the workshop part, children together with caregivers will try their hand at a traditional craft. Working on simple looms, we will create our own small textiles. With colorful threads we will weave personal landscapes, abstract signs, stories and colorful backgrounds.
The meeting will be led by Luxuan Wang — an MSN educator and cultural anthropologist. He works in the Education Department of the National Museum of Ethnography in Warsaw. He graduated in ethnology and cultural anthropology from the University of Warsaw. In his master’s studies within the MISH college in art history and sinology he researches collections and exhibitions of Chinese art at the National Museum of Ethnography.
