    About the event

Year-round dance project led by Natalia Meksa Limit: 12 spots – first come, first served! 📝 Sign up here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1FAIpQLSdZM/viewform Learn more about Natalia, who spent the last eight years dancing in the UK: https://www.nataliameksa.com/pl CHOREOGRAPHIC IMPRO, or: "How not to lose your head with choreography and improvisation?" Have you ever felt brilliant while improvising… and then choreography comes and suddenly your mind goes blank? Or the opposite – you dance choreo like a pro, and then the instructor says: "Now eight counts of improvisation – do whatever you want!"… and suddenly you freeze. Or maybe you start with improv and flow so much that you completely forget the choreography? These classes are here to change that! Choreographic Impro combines contemporary dance technique (Release, Cunningham, floorwork) with improvisation in a way that keeps your body and mind in sync. Each meeting starts with a solid warm-up – yoga, mobility, body conditioning, and somatic elements – preparing both body and mind for further work. Then we move on to choreography, improvisation, and developing musicality, so you'll never "get lost" halfway through a dance again. You'll learn to smoothly transition between memorized material and free movement, creating a coherent, unique composition. The project runs from September to June and is designed as a gradual development process. 🎯 PROJECT GOAL - Develop a holistic dancer-artist who can: - precisely reproduce choreography, - freely improvise and create, - combine creativity and analytical thinking in dance. 📅 PROJECT STRUCTURE September – June | Mondays 17:30-19:30 CODA Movement, Warsaw 💰 Cost: 270 PLN / month, i.e. BLOCK of 4 classes The "Month/BLOCK" starts on the 15th of each month, with a total of 10 BLOCKS, exact class dates: BLOCK I: September 15, 22, 29 and October 6 BLOCK II: October 13, 20, 27 and November 3 BLOCK III: November 10, 17, 24 and December 1 BLOCK IV: December 8, 15, 22, 29 and January 5 BLOCK V: January 12, 19, 26 and February 2 BLOCK VI: February 9, 16, 23 and March 2 BLOCK VII: March 9, 16, 23, 30 BLOCK VIII: April 13, 20, 27 and May 4 BLOCK IX: May 11, 18, 25 and June 1 BLOCK X: June 8, 15, 22 with a final showcase (an additional date may be added TBC) SEMESTER 1 (September–December): - Polishing dance technique, strengthening the body. - Learning Natalia's original choreographies – with emphasis on musicality and emotional depth of each piece. - Improvisation interwoven with choreography, building a coherent composition. - Slow, mindful, conscious work with the body and getting to know the group. SEMESTER 2 (January–March): - Creating your own choreographies and experimenting. - In-depth work with music – including pieces chosen by participants. - Developing skills in structuring and free improvisation. SEMESTER 3 (April–June): - Selecting favorite choreographies and improvisations. - Opportunity to present solo, in duet or trio. - Choosing the style, movement language, and music you feel best in. - Project ends with a mini "work in progress" showcase, documented on video so everyone can see their progress! BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATION - Smoothly combining choreography and improvisation. - Developing body awareness, musicality, and creativity. - Strengthening self-confidence on stage and in creative processes. - Building your own movement language. - Collaborating with other dancers. WHO IS IT FOR The level is open but participants must have dance experience – both for those who feel more confident in choreography and want to develop improvisational freedom, and for those who love improv but want the challenge of learning structure and precision. I believe this process will open the way to building new collaborations and beautiful bonds!
