Weekend in the Pieniny — Homole Gorge, Three Crowns, Sokolica and Wysoka [summit for the Polish Mountain Crown (KGP)]

PROGRAM

Meeting in Warsaw at 00:15 at the stop by E. Plater 47; breakfast break in the morning. We will start the hike in Jaworki, where a local mountain guide will join us. Following the yellow trail we will walk through the Biała Woda Reserve to Przełęcz Rozdziela on the Polish–Slovak border. Then via the blue trail we will reach the highest Pieniny peak — Wysoka (1050 m a.s.l.), counted in the Polish Mountain Crown. From the summit you can see picturesque panoramas on the Polish and Slovak sides. We will stamp the souvenir books and go through the Homole Gorge — one of the major natural attractions of the Pieniny; the reserve has been protected since 1963. From the parking lot in Jaworki transfer to the guesthouse, check-in, dinner and overnight stay.

Distance of the hike: approx. 12.5 km (approx. 7 hours including breaks). Elevation gain/loss: +584 m / -628 m.

Breakfast, check-out, transfer to Sromowce Niżne, from where we will set off on the next hike. On the yellow trail we will reach Szopczański Potok, then the green trail to Polana Kosarzyska, from which we will ascend the blue trail to Three Crowns (982 m a.s.l.) with views of the Dunajec gorges and a picturesque panorama of the Tatras. We will descend the blue trail to Przełęcz Szopka, then the yellow trail to Polana Wyrobek and again the blue trail via Czertezik we will reach Sokolica (747 m a.s.l.) with its characteristic relict pine. We will descend to Przełęcz Sosnów, from which the green trail will lead us to Krościenko nad Dunajcem.

Distance of the hike: approx. 12 km (approx. 6 hours including breaks). Elevation gain/loss: +792 m / -814 m. In Krościenko we will have lunch. Return to Warsaw around 23:00.
