Sunrise on Babia Góra and guided mountain trek [peak for KGP] #5

About the event

Trekking on Babia Góra, during which we will admire a spectacular sunrise over the Tatra Mountains, Podhale, and Orava. Along the way, we will conquer the second highest peak in the Crown of Polish Mountains, Diablak 1725 m a.s.l. During the hike, we will visit the PTTK Markowe Szczawiny mountain hut and the Józef Żak open-air museum in Zawoja. Trip with a mountain guide. PROGRAM - 1st DAY 🕒 20:00 – Warsaw – meeting at the bus stop at 47 Emilii Plater St. 22:15 – Łódź – meeting at BP station, 1 Kątna St. 23:45 – Częstochowa – Orlen station, Lgota, 90 Częstochowska St. - 2nd DAY 01:00 – Sosnowiec – Orlen station, 134 Orląt Lwowskich St. Breakfast break on the route. We will start the hike from Krowiarki Pass (1010 m a.s.l.), from where after about 2.5 hours of walking we will reach Diablak, the highest peak of the Babia Góra massif (1725 m a.s.l.), included in the Crown of Polish Mountains. On Diablak, we plan a longer break to enjoy the views of the area. In addition to the panorama of the Żywiec and Makowski Beskids, and Slovak Orava, you will easily spot the Tatra Mountains. We will descend via Brona Pass (1408 m a.s.l.) to the PTTK Markowe Szczawiny hut, where we will take a meal break. We will descend along the green trail towards Zawoja, visiting the PTTK Józef Żak open-air museum, established and run by the PTTK Babiogórska Land Branch in Sucha Beskidzka. The open-air museum presents traditional Babia Góra architecture. It consists of three single-building farmsteads – from 1900, 1910, and 1802-15, a forge, a granary, and a chapel. The ethnographic exhibition is housed in a cottage from 1802-1815. Until its relocation in 1987, it functioned as a house with a smoke kitchen. The exhibition is a typical example of local architecture from the early last century. The building from 1900 contains an exhibition dedicated to the history of Babia Góra tourism. Distance to cover: approx. 11.5 km in about 7 hours (with breaks), elevation gain +725 m / -1030 m.
