Brzechwałki Festival is a revival and evolution of the acclaimed showcase of preschool artistic work and family theatres, which from 1997–2020 was organised in collaboration with Teatr Groteska and the Małopolska Teacher Development Centre in Kraków. The new format preserves the tradition of presenting stage forms and expands the offer with a series of free theatre pedagogy workshops for people working in preschool and early primary education, as well as educational-theatre activities for the local community. The event aims to develop theatrical passion among the youngest and to raise competences in using theatre in education.
What makes a text good? What should you pay attention to when choosing literature for a showcase, performance, or presentation? What criteria should you use? These questions will inspire activities during the March workshop. The main topic of the meeting is transferring literary text into the world of theatre — its stage realisation and interpretation. Must classics be interpreted classically, or can you allow a bit of madness? How does interpretation differ from recitation? What should be avoided, and which behaviours should be reinforced when presenting text on stage? We will learn the alphabet of acting techniques; we will experiment and test in practice both from the spectator’s and the actor’s perspectives.
