Adult Workshop: Making Theatrical Muppet-Style Puppets

Are there any Muppet fans in the room?

We invite you to a creative adult workshop where participants will handcraft a theatrical puppet in the “Muppet” form — a distinctive, expressive style known from the iconic “Sesame Street” and “The Muppet Show”.

During the meeting, original puppets will be created, and the next step will be an introduction to practical animation techniques — participants will learn how to bring the puppet to life with movement, gesture and character. This is a unique opportunity to peek behind the scenes of puppet theatre and try your hand at puppetry.

You can expect an evening full of creative fun, imagination and theatrical energy. No prior experience is required — openness and willingness to participate are what matter.

Level: BEGINNER

Workshop duration: 15:00–19:00 (4 hours).

Location: Centrum Kultury Podgórza – Strefa Sokolska, ul. Sokolska 13, Kraków.

Cost: 160 zł per person.

The workshop consists of three parts:

• basic knowledge about theatrical puppets
• creating your own Muppet
• animation (moving, performing) with your puppet

• Helena Wróbel – actress, puppeteer, set designer, makeup artist, visual artist; graduate of the Aleksander Zelwerowicz Theatre Academy in Warsaw, puppetry arts faculty, and the FAM school of makeup and hairstyling in Kraków. Author of scenography and theatrical puppets in many productions for children and adults, including the Sztukarnia Foundation.
• Dorota Kaczor – director, actress; graduate of the A. Zelwerowicz Theatre Academy, puppetry faculty; cultural animator, theatre and drama pedagogue, instructor of group workshops for children and adults. Culture Animator of the Year 2023. Recipient of the Mayor of Kraków’s scholarship in theatre. President of the Sztukarnia Foundation.
