Zofia Stryjeńska, called “the princess of Polish painting,” is one of the most important and most colorful figures of interwar art. Her unique style combines art déco and Polish folklore — a modern, geometric form with a fascination for Slavic beliefs, folk costumes and dance. Her vivid colors and depictions of deities became a starting point for young artists.
In the students’ eyes, Stryjeńska’s legacy becomes alive, fierce and highly relevant. Young people draw from roots while speaking in their own distinct voice.
Join us for an artistic journey where Polish folklore intertwines with modern design and the interwar period meets Generation Z sensitivity. The opening is accompanied by a concert performed by students of II, XII and XX high schools in Kraków.
The works were prepared under the supervision of dr hab. Marek Batorski, prof. of the University of the Commission of National Education in Kraków.
📅 The exhibition can be seen until 17 March 2026 during Kuźnia’s opening hours.
